Wow, what an exciting time ahead this year!

Let's start by talking a little "Smack". Last year, "Smack This" won the Women's "A" Regional playoffs.
This year? They're joining the StrikeForce Volleyball Club. I'd love to say it's all because we carry such a proud name, have won tons of tournaments, and are great all-around folks, but...

Although those things are all accurate, the truth of the matter is that like many teams, Smack wants to simply, "play volleyball", not get bogged down with the hassle of paperwork, tournament entries, and the details of their impending trip to Nationals this year.

It is a pain in the nether-region to have to muddle through all forms and organizing when all you really want to do is play. We realize this and offer to help. Not just the former "Smack This" team, but ANY team who would rather not have to worry about the bureaucratic side of the game is welcome to fly the SFVBC banner and in return, have our office staff do the paperwork.

But in any case, "Welcome to StrikeForce ladies"!
It will be an honor to watch and root for you as a part of the StrikeForce Volleyball Club this season.

I guess the next question is, the name... "StrikeForce Smack This"?    hmmm...  "StrikeForce Fuchia"? LOL

Other News:

This year's financial plan:
At the last board meeting, we discussed, voted, and came up with the following initial plan for handling this year's finances.

  1. Each person within the club will pay an initial fee of $175. See the breakdown listed below.

  2. By the 20th of each month, the coach and captain of each team will be given the following month's "invoice". This invoice will be exactly what the team will owe for the coming month's gym fees, coaching fee, and two tournament entry fees. Should a team play in less than 2 tournaments, a credit will be carried over to the next month. If a team plays in more than 2 tournaments in a month, a single check will need to be given to a board member on tournament day for reimbursement of that fee.

By the 1st of each month, the team captain (or rep) will remit one check to the office for that month's total fees due. How each team decides to raise that money is up to them. We will gladly help in fund-raising efforts. We already have the hardware for Casino/Auction Nights, which raise about $300-$500 each. There are other fund-raising ideas (raffle, bake sale, etc.) or each team can simply divide the fees by the number of players and collect it that way. What we ask is that only one check be submitted to the office for the entire month's fees.

        Initial Fee breakdown:

USAV Registration - $55
            Equipment - $37.50
            Uniform (Shirts) - $25
            Admin Costs - $17.50
End of Year Gathering - $40
Commentary ~ Some teams have basic equipment from last season. We have a minimum requirement for each team. This requirement includes balls, ball bag, ball bin, and tournament "kit".  Not all teams will wish to go with the standard "T-Shirt" uniforms. Each team has the option of getting more expensive uniforms if they wish, and can just add the difference at the time of order submission. Also note that per the USVA office, uniforms will need to be exactly matching this year. They plan to crack down on offenders. Admin cost is a once a year fee to cover the cost of the year's printing, web site hosting, and software program. The end of year gathering is for one ticket. It is mandatory for each player in the fee. If you cannot make it for some reason, please just sell your ticket to a player who needs more than one for a significant other. Additional EOYG tickets will be available closer to the date of function.

Gold to Nationals:

This year, we already have commitments from 2/3 of the SF Gold team to go to Nationals! The newest addition to the SF Women's side plans to go as well. We should be well represented at Nationals this year.

The SFVBClub Website:
Is beginning to fill out nicely. We plan to add a few more features soon including a database feature, a movie critic site, and an open comment forum page. But that's still a bit off...

Ciao for now all,
