The 2008 Summer is here!
NEW VENUE!! Brier Park -
2903 228th St. S.W. Brier, WA
Due to high demand, we've moved to a park that offers more room (12 courts
instead of 8), super-close bathrooms, and a cabana with tables. Woohoo!
This years dates were:
Sunday June 22nd - (D&D
XXXI)
Duke & Duchess:
Tad Hussey, Heather Burglund -
Congratulations!
Sunday August 17th - (D&D
XXXII)
Duke & Duchess:
David 'Jazz' Jaskolka, Juliet Sims - Congratulations!
Note: These were the last of the Duke and Duchess
Tournaments. For personal reasons, we will NOT run this format in
upcoming years. Thanks for your support gang!
_______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Over the 6 years that we’ve been running these tournaments,
we’ve had 25+ different Dukes and 25+ different Duchesses. But more importantly,
we’ve had tournament after tournament of great volleyball (12 games in a day!),
and LOTS of fun in the sun (food, friends, and the occasional Blue Angels
fly-by).
The list below has not been updated with this last summer's
royalty.
Have a look at the past winners, complete with crowns and
tiaras, in our

All
tournaments are AA/A/BB combined unless otherwise stated.
How does a D&D tournament work?
|
It’s a reverse coed doubles
format – so you will have a women’s height net and men have to hit behind the
3 meter line. Generally, we see a mix of A and BB players that enter. |
|
We start with 16 men and 16
women in each division that are randomly divided into 2 pools. You play 8 games (rally scoring
to 25, no cap), each with a different opposite sex partner against each of the
same sex players in your pool. Game scores are recorded at the end of each
match. |
|
After pool is complete,
players are seeded and divided into 4 levels of bracket play – Platinum,
Gold, Silver, & Bronze. |
|
Based on your seed, you will
play 2 games as a group of 4 – playing with a different partner each game. The
winners will be determined by win/loss and in the case of a split, by points.
The winners on each net will move to the championship round for their bracket
following the same format. The “non-winners” move to the consolation match in
their bracket. |
Registration Information
|
Early-paid entry is $20 per person
($25 if you choose to pay on tournament day instead of mailing in)
which includes: beverages, food, and prizes. In past D&D’s we generally
provide a wide variety of food such as breakfast breads, fruit, salty snack,
candy, sandwich fixings, cookies, water & Gatorade.
|
|
Pre-registration is mandatory
due to the limited number of spots open each tournament as well as the format
of play that requires 16 men and 16 women in each division.
|
|
Since we rely on players to
bring their nets to make this tournament a reality, if you are willing to
provide a net, we will take $5 off your entry fee. Please state this when
you register. |
How To Register
This season, we will be accepting registrations for all events beginning Monday
March 17th. Entry will be on a first-come, first-serve basis and your spot will be
secured by your early registration fee of $20.
Step 1:
Email
bill@sfvbclub.org with your registration
information (Event Date, Your Name, Phone, Email address, Level of play
(Advanced or Intermediate), and AVPNext number)
Step 2:
Mail or hand deliver your check payable to StrikeForce Volleyball Club
for $20 to:
Bill Foote, Direction of Operations
StrikeForce Volleyball Club
4128 164th St SW
Lynnwood
WA, 98087
We will email confirmation that your registration has been received.
Step 4: Show up on the day of
tournament, no later than 8:15am, and play!
Wait Listing
These tournaments tend to fill up quickly, but we do offer a waiting list, as
individuals will cancel. Please be sure we have your full contact information so
we can reach you.
If the tourney is full, we do invite you to show up the morning of the event. If
a player does not arrive by the beginning of the first game, he or she will
forfeit their spot in the tournament.
Cancellation Policy
|
In the unfortunate event that
you discover you can’t play, we ask that you provide SFVB Club at least
5 days notice so that we can allow others on the wait list to play.
The success of the D&D tournament relies heavily on having exactly 16 men and
16 women as we have a full schedule already determined in advance. You will be
provided a full refund. |
|
If you do not show up the day
of the event you will forfeit your registration fee and you may not be allowed
entry into future tournaments. 31 other men and women in your division are counting on you to
be there to make the tournament a success. |

Want to Get More Involved?
We are always looking for volunteers to help with the morning set-up, managing
the registration desk & tournament tent and breaking down the event. Just let us
know if you would like to assist. The success of these events over the past 4
years has been due in part to the volunteer efforts of many local volleyball
enthusiasts.
Weather
http://www.weather.com/outlook/recreation/local/98040?lswe=98040&lwsa=WeatherLocalRecreation)
We will make at call at
7am
the morning of the tournament after visiting the field. If the weather is
miserable, we will begin calling you at the contact number you have provided to
inform you of the cancellation. If you don’t hear from us by 7:30am, the
tournament is on. If in doubt, you can call us -
206.972.7500 (Bill).
If we have to cancel, we will try to reschedule for an upcoming weekend if there
is enough interest, or we will transfer your registration to another D & D
event, or you will be provided a refund.
